On Tuesday (March 1), Yeezy posted a photo of a laptop, which seemed to show him pirating Serum Software, which deadmau5’s Xfer Records owns. After seeing the tweet, the Canadian DJ-producer responded.
“What the fuck @kanyewest,” he tweeted. “Can’t afford serum? Dick…Let’s start a Kickstarter to help @kanyewest afford a copy of Serum…He needs a small loan of 200$ #prayforyeezy.”
Kanye caught wind of this and went on a Twitter tirade about deadmau5, making fun of his name and mouse head costume with a series of questions.
Then, Yeezy asked deadmau5 to perform at his daughter North West’s birthday party, dressed as Minnie Mouse.
‘Ye’s references to Disney characters is a reminder of deadmau5’s legal woes. Last year, an attorney said that “Disney and deadmau5 have amicably resolved their dispute” over trademark concerns due to the DJ’s logo being similar to Disney’s Mickey Mouse.
Kanye is in the early stages of recording his next album, Turbo Grafx 16, the follow-up to last month’s The Life of Pablo.
