Usher, Chance the Rapper, & Common to Appear on 'Hamilton Mixtape'

  /  03.02.2016

After becoming a major Broadway smash, Hamilton, the New York rap-musical based on Alexander Hamilton, has announced a new mixtape featuring some of hip-hop and R&B’s biggest names.

The Hamilton Mixtape is set to feature Usher, Chance the Rapper, Common, Sia, Busta Rhymes, and Queen Latifah, among others.

The collection of tracks, featuring remixes and songs inspired by the Broadway sensation, is set to drop in the fall on Atlantic Records, according to Entertainment Weekly.

The project should come as no surprise. Lin-Manuel Miranda, the show’s writer, composer, and star, has referred to Hamilton as “an unapologetic love letter to hip-hop.”

But the theater version of Hamilton has also amassed immense success. The original musical cast’s album is currently No. 17 on the Billboard 200. The show also won Best Musical Theater Album at the Grammys, where the cast also performed a number from the play.
