John Legend Remixes 'Downton Abbey' Theme Song
John Legend meets “Downton Abbey.” The Oscar-winning crooner isn’t acting on the show, of course, since the PBS drama ended on Sunday after six successful seasons. Instead, he premiered the lyrical version of the drama’s theme song for a “Jimmy Kimmel Live!” bit on Monday (March 7).
“Everyone we know is very white,” Legend sings in “the never-before-heard lyrical version” of the cut. “We don’t have one black friend / Mary and Edith love to fight, we love to dress in formal wear for dinner almost every night.”

Although “Downton Abbey” has come to an end, Legend is excited about a different TV show, a period piece he’s executive producing called “Underground,” which features modern music like Kanye West’s “Black Skinhead.”
“The show is about the underground railroad,” he tells Kimmel, “and these slaves that took this heroic journey to escape from slavery and head to the north and the action has so much energy and urgency, that we wanted the music to have it too.”

During his visit to Kimmel, the father-to-be spoke about his upcoming baby with wife Chrissy Teigen. “I’m just going into it with my eyes open and my arms open and I’m ready,” said Legend, who went baby shopping with Kim and Kanye. “[Kim] just showed Chrissy everything a mom would need.”
