Kevin Gates Performs '2 Phones' on 'Wendy Williams'

With his single rising up the charts, Kevin Gates hit “The Wendy Williams Show” on Thursday (Mar. 10) for a performance of “2 Phones” off his debut album Islah, which entered the Billboard 200 at No. 2 last month.

As Wendy looked on, the New Orleans MC boasted about counting money while his phones “ring, ring, ring.” Over trap production, KG kept his mellow demeanor and later spoke with the host about his success and his daughter’s influence.

“[Islah] means to have a spiritual awakening,” he said, discussing the album named after his baby. “It means to reprove. It means to make better. And my daughter did all of those things for me.”

During the interview, Gates also celebrated Monica, calling her his “mother.” “She taught me how to sing and still teaches me how to sing,” he said.
