Mariah Carey to Star in E! Docu-Series 'Mariah's World'

E! is home to the Kardashians and Jenners. And later this year, the television network will welcome a new member to the family—Mariah Carey. The pop diva is set to star in her own reality series.

The eight-part docu-series, entitled “Mariah’s World,” will follow Mimi while she hits the road in Europe and South Africa, and plans her upcoming wedding to billionaire fiancé James Packer.

Although “Mariah’s World” will be produced by Bunim/Murray Productions, the same team behind “Keeping Up with the Kardashians,” “I Am Cait,” and “The Real World,” Carey does not want to call this a reality TV show.

“I refuse to call it a reality show,” she told The New York Times. “I thought it would be a good opportunity to kind of, like, show my personality and who I am, even though I feel like my real fans have an idea of who I am. A lot of people have misperceptions about this and that.”

The series, which is set to be more like a documentary than a reality show, according to producers, will not focus on her fiancé or Carey’s four-year-old twins, Moroccan and Monroe.

“I don’t want to do anything that’s exploitative,” said Mariah. “They haven’t been filmed at all yet. There might be a couple of moments, but it’s not about making them the stars of the show. They’re too young to make that decision.”

As of now, Carey has committed to one season, but that could change. “I don’t know,” she said. “We’ll see how long I can tolerate being around cameras that much.”

The singer launched her “Sweet Sweet Fantasy” European tour in Glasgow, Scotland this week, with shows scheduled through April. She will also play two dates in South Africa in May.
