New Music: Big Sean - 'Get My Shit Together'

  /  03.25.2016

Big Sean turns 28 today. In honor of getting one year older, the birthday boy does some soul searching on an introspective new song called “Get My Shit Together.” Over the Tommy Brown and Mr. Franks beat, Sean Don wises up and reflects on his journey (“I had a dream I died at 30, ni**a”), while name-dropping Michael Jackson, A$AP Rocky, Leonardo DiCaprio, and DJ Khaled.

He also gets candid about his love life. “I’ve been choosin’ wrong girls my whole life / I hope I don’t fail the test again and have her goin’ through my texts again religiously like it’s the Old Testament and end up single, alone, and stressed again.”

The song ends with him asking listeners to “please pray for us,” while a voice that sounds like Jhené Aiko chimes in.

Sean, who was recently in the studio with Metro Boomin, is gearing up to release the follow-up to 2015’s Dark Sky Paradise.

“It’s a lot of new music that’s done, but we’re just getting it right,” he told Real 92.3. “It’s my best work so far. I feel like on my last album, that’s the most comfortable I’ve been. This one is taking that to another level. The concept is crazy. The song’s are crazy, and I’ve got a surprise, too. I’ve got a real surprise coming up soon.”
