Eve Talks Nicki Minaj, Family, & Ruff Ryders on 'The Breakfast Club'

  /  04.12.2016

Eve has a lot on her plate. After speaking to Rap-Up about her next album, the former First Lady of Ruff Ryders stopped by Power 105’s “The Breakfast Club” to reveal some of her other plans.

During the interview, which spanned a little over 20 minutes, Eve opened up about independence, marriage, and children. Of course, talk also turned to her new film, Barbershop: The Next Cut, and her co-star Nicki Minaj.

See what E-V-E had to say about Nicki, her Ruff Ryders family, and being a stepmother.

On working with Nicki Minaj: “It was good, honestly. You never know, especially females together. Women can be catty. Honestly, she was so sweet. She was really cool. She was very professional. She killed it in the movie. It was nice. It was really nice to see her in a different light…She did a good job. She did a great job, actually.”

On music: “I just want to make good music. Music is my life. It’s my first love. I wouldn’t be able to be in the other worlds that I’m in without my music first. So I always feel like I have to respect it.”

On going independent: “I like to work hard. For me, it was something I had to do as a person and also an artist. I’m happy I did it. It’s the hardest work I’ve ever done. Being independent is hard, but I’m about to start working on music again, independent, but in a different way—not as independent.”

On Ruff Ryders: “I saw Swizz the last time he was in London. But I haven’t seen X. I feel like I probably will while I’m here…We’re trying to get together…Anytime Ruff Ryders calls me, I’m there. No questions. Whatever they need. No problem.”

On being a stepmother: “I’ve been in their lives almost seven years. That helped, but it’s hard…I got lucky. They’re cool kids. They’re so proud of me. They came to the premiere last week. They’re really sweet kids.”

On having children of her own: “We’re definitely trying.”
