Rae Sremmurd Brings the Party to Coachella

Sremm Crew gets lit at Coachella. Ahead of the June release of SremmLife 2, Rae Sremmurd capped off Day 1 in the desert with an electrifying late-night performance.

Swae Lee and Slim Jxmmi opened Friday’s 50-minute set at the Sahara Tent with “Start a Party,” a new joint off SremmLife 2. Backed by dazzling visual displays, smoke, and giant SremmLife balloons, the Tupelo, Miss. duo rocked on with a slew of hits. From “No Flex Zone” to “Come Get Her” to “Throw Sum Mo” to “Unlock the Swag” to “No Type,” they dropped banger after banger for festivalgoers. Plus, they treated the Coachella crowd to the first performance of their latest single “Look Alive.”

Things took a political turn when the brothers endorsed Democratic candidate Bernie Sanders. “Vote for Bernie Sanders,” they said at one point as the screen flashed the hashtag #FreePot. “We legalizing pot 2016. Let’s get it.”

Despite performing their turn-up anthem “Up Like Trump,” they no longer have love for the Republican frontrunner. “Fuck Donald Trump,” they said as a devilish Trump with horns on his head and fire appeared on screen.

SremmLife 2, which features appearances from Juicy J and Lil Jon, is set to drop June 24.
