Report: ILoveMakonnen No Longer Signed to OVO Sound

  /  04.19.2016

ILoveMakonnen is no longer repping OVO. A source has revealed that the “Tuesday” hitmaker has cut ties with Drake’s OVO Sound label, according to Billboard.

Things seemed to be all good in March of this year, when the rapper-singer said a compilation project featuring all of OVO’s stars had been recorded. “A collaboration album? I can’t say too much,” he said. “It exists. We’ll just see when it comes out.”

However, it’s unclear when his relationship with OVO ended. His latest project, March’s Drink More Water 6, was released via Warner Bros. Records and without OVO Sound.

That same month, Makonnen told The FADER that his relationship with the label was simply that of an artist and imprint. “It’s cool,” he said. “They put out my music and stuff and we just keep it moving. Let them tell you their relationship with Makonnen. I’m just an artist, being an artist, and there’s only so much that I can do.”

Despite that news, things are still going up on a Tuesday for ILoveMakonnen, who just announced the upcoming “Red Dragon Based God Tour” with Lil B. In a SoundCloud post celebrating the run, the ex-OVO star called the Based God a “friend,” “brother,” “mentor,” “superstar,” and “the legend” he aspires to be.

To celebrate the announcement, the duo released a new single, “Can’t Let It Go,” which can be heard below.
