Video: Dee-1 feat. Big K.R.I.T. & Lupe Fiasco - 'Against Us (Remix)'
Dee-1, Big K.R.I.T., and Lupe Fiasco link up. The rhyming trio unites in the graffiti-laden video for their potent remix to the New Orleans rapper’s 2014 single “Against Us.”
“The line-up for this song feels like an All-Star team,” Dee-1 told Billboard. “Lupe is a legend, K.R.I.T. is a superstar and I’m the new guy making noise. Time to put some ‘respek’ on my name.”
Lupe also celebrated the track. “I was impressed by what [Dee-1] did,” he added. “We shot the video in New Orleans. Shout out to Big K.R.I.T. for jumping on that as well, and you know the rest is history.”
For his part, Dee-1 uses some religious symbolism, rhyming about God and delivering a prayer throughout. Krizzle joins in with rhymes about how people need to “love each other,” “embrace the struggle,” and “fight the evil.” Then, Lupe spits bars about not sleeping and escaping the “nightmares” that exist where he’s from.
Even Dee’s grandfather embraced the track. “I might be 86,” he says at the end of the video. “But I know good hip-hop when it hits.”
