Watch DeJ Loaf's 3 New Videos

  /  06.15.2016

DeJ Loaf is on a video spree, delivering three back-to-back visuals in one day.

The first clip in the trilogy is “Goals,” which allows the Detroit spitter to rhyme about her future plans and her hopes for others. “‘Goals’ was written for anyone who has a dream,” she tells Billboard. “A song where I express how to go about life in some situations.”

Backed by an all-white backdrop, sporting all white, rhyming in front of a white piano, DeJ says the color theme was purposeful. “White is pure,” she explains. “White is clean. White makes you pay attention,” she explains. “Honestly I wanted the people to keep focused on the lyrics.”

Those lyrics also offer guidance to others. “See I’ma tell you what they ain’t baby girl,” she rhymes on the track. “Gotta find yourself and create your world.”

The second clip in the saga is “Vibes/Chase Mine,” a more gritty visual that finds DeJ in a warehouse. Sporting a denim jumpsuit and yellow Beats by Dre headphones, Lil Loaf walks in and delivers passionate bars.

“I wanted it give the people a warm-up feel, an introduction type of approach,” she said of the clip. “Showing no fear, pure confidence, as if I was getting ready to face one of my biggest performances of my life.”

“Who Am I?” is the third installment in DeJ’s video series. Loaf calls the DDS-produced song a “reflection” and the visual, which finds her rhyming in a bathtub, matches that theme perfectly.

“The idea originally sparked from me and my daily bath taking ritual,” she says. “I often meditate by running a hot bubble bath, lighting candles and sage, and playing music. [My team and I] thought to ourselves, ‘That could be dope, just make it a natural moment.’ Me in the bath tub in deep thought.”

DeJ also faced a major performance last night when she helped welcome Beyoncé to Detroit by performing on “The Formation World Tour” as a guest in opener DJ Khaled’s set. She gave the hometown crowd tracks like “Try Me” and “Back Up,” and even took a moment to snap a pic with Jay Z.

Both “Goals” and “Chase Mine” are standout singles from April’s All Jokes Aside, which features production by Sonny Digital, Izze the Producer, iRocksays, and a guest spot from Silkk the Shocker. The song “Vibes” is the project’s intro.
