Rihanna to Release 'Sledgehammer' Single for 'Star Trek Beyond'

Rihanna’s got a brand new “Sledgehammer.”

The singer has recorded a new single for the upcoming Star Trek Beyond soundtrack. Earlier today, a promo image appeared on iTunes announcing the mysterious cut.

It’s unclear when “Sledgehammer” will actually be released, but it should drop before the film hits theaters on July 22. Star Trek Beyond stars Idris Elba, Chris Pine, and the late Anton Yelchin.

Sia is rumored to be the songwriter behind “Sledgehammer,” and if that’s true, it follows the massive success the two had with “Diamonds,” which was written by the “Chandelier” songstress.

Making music for movies is nothing new for RiRi. Just last year, she recorded three songs for the animated film Home, in which she also starred.

In the last couple months alone, Rihanna has appeared on singles from Calvin Harris (“This Is What You Came For”) and Mike WiLL Made-It (“Nothing Is Promised”).
