'Sisterhood of Hip Hop' Cast Reveals Their Favorite Female MCs
Ladies first. Celebrating female empowerment, the stars of Oxygen’s reality series “Sisterhood of Hip Hop” share their love for women who’ve made their mark on the culture.
In an exclusive video ahead of next week’s Season 3 premiere, Siya, Brianna Perry, Diamond, Audra the Rapper, and Lee Mazin reveal their favorite female MCs of all time, starting with Lauryn Hill.
“With every record, it was something that you could apply to your life,” Audra said of the Fugees icon. “Motherly advice type of shit.”
Meanwhile, Diamond sang Lil’ Kim’s praises. “She to me is the epitome of strength,” the Atlanta rapstress said of the Queen Bee. “I admire that.”
MC Lyte and Missy also got love, as did DeJ Loaf and Nicki Minaj. Siya, for instance, shared that she’s “very appreciative of the doors [Nicki] opened up for female MCs.” But when it came to Iggy, she wasn’t as impressed.
“Iggy Azalea and hip-hop,” Siya added. “They don’t mesh.”
Get ready for Season 3 of “Sisterhood of Hip Hop,” which premieres Tuesday, July 12 at 9 p.m. ET/PT.
