IKEA Has 'No Plans' to Work with Kanye West

Kanye West’s dreams of collaborating with IKEA may be over.

Just a day after Mr. West spoke about his hopes of working with the Swedish furniture titan, the company has issued a response.

“At IKEA we are constantly curious about different people, companies, artists and events around the world,” a spokesperson told CNBC. “To have these connections and inspiring meetings is an important way for us to find new ways to create a better everyday life for the many people. Although we are really flattered by Kanye West’s high interest in IKEA and the speculation around a joint venture, we have no plans to collaborate at this point in time.”

Despite this, IKEA Australia had some fun with the rumor of a Yeezus collaboration. “Hej Kanye,” they wrote on Facebook. “We’d love to see what you’d create…we could make you Famous!”

This was accompanied by a potential mock-up of their work together.

Kanye has been vocal about his love for IKEA for some time. In March, he even visited the company and said he was “super inspired” by the meeting. “My mind is racing with possibilities,” tweeted Ye.

During his most recent talk with BBC, he expanded on his thoughts regarding the IKEA partnership. “I have to work with IKEA,” he said. “Make furniture for interior design, for architecture and I know that if I do a minimalist apartment inside of a college dorm where the TV goes on the side of the wall…Yo IKEA, allow Kanye to create, allow him to make this thing because you know what, I want a bed that he makes, I want a chair that he makes. I want more products from ‘Ye.”
