New Music: John Legend - 'Start'
John Legend takes fans back to the “Start” with his latest jam, a mellow cut off the soundtrack for Southside with You.
The song is appropriate, of course, because Southside is based on the start of President Barack Obama’s relationship with the First Lady of the United States, Michelle.
“I don’t know where the road leads,” sings Legend over melodic piano keys. “You don’t know if I’ll break your heart / We don’t know how the winds will blow / And we won’t know, we won’t go unless we start.”
In addition to lending his voice, the new dad executive produced the film, which stars Parker Sawyers and Tika Sumpter as the future POTUS and FLOTUS.
Southside with You arrives in theaters today. The soundtrack, featuring Janet Jackson, Slick Rick, and Bill Withers, is also available now.
