Watch Vince Staples' Short Film 'Prima Donna'
Hot off the release of Prima Donna, Vince Staples unleashes the EP’s dramatic short film of the same name.
The 10-minute piece, directed by Nabil, features Staples in a nightmare-like trance, lost in hallucinations. Riding dark emotional twists and turns, viewers eventually find the Long Beach rapper lying on the ground with blood running around him.
“Don’t say you feel my pain,” he raps at one point. “‘Cause I don’t even feel myself / Blood rushing through my brain / Sometimes I wanna kill myself.”
Although the clip was premiered at a private party in Los Angeles last week, it received a wide release today through Noisey and Viceland, where it will air in two-minute segments throughout the day.
Staples is coming off a rousing set at FYF Fest in L.A. over the weekend and he’s about to take Prima Donna on the road starting Sept. 3 in Denver.
