R. Kelly Readies '12 Nights of Christmas' Album
R. Kelly is coming home for the holidays.
The R&B maestro is gearing up to release his first Christmas album, 12 Nights of Christmas, next month.
Dressed in a dapper suit, holding a cigar in one hand and a drink in the other, Kellz is all smiles on the festive cover art, which he revealed on Instagram.
True to the theme, the artwork features a beautifully-lit tree and a warm fireplace to get fans in the holiday spirit.
And it looks like a visual has already been shot. Decked out in a red and white cardigan, Kellz sings on a stoop as snow falls down in the still.
“The world could use some cheer,” he captioned the pic. “#12NightsOfChristmas #NewTracks #2016.”
With this, R. Kelly delivers on a four-year plan, which he unveiled exclusively to Rap-Up in 2013.
“I’m working on a Christmas album right now called the 12 Nights of Christmas and it’s gonna be a lot of lovemaking,” Kellz told Rap-Up at the time. “I come with that bearing gifts.”
According to The R, the album started back in 2012. “I started it last Christmas actually, but I don’t believe in just putting out a Christmas album just to sell records,” he said at the time. “It has to be the next [‘This Christmas’]. In order to get that and capture that moment, you have to take a couple of Christmases and then you come with it.”
Kellz is no stranger to Christmas. He has released a slew of holiday songs throughout the years including “A Love Letter Christmas,” “Christmas I’ll Be Steppin’,” and “World Christmas.”
12 Nights of Christmas, which follows last year’s The Buffet, is set to arrive Oct. 21. For now, fans can catch Kellz on “The Buffet Tour,” which kicked off earlier this month and runs through Nov. 13 in Washington, D.C.
