Maxwell is making dreams come true.
Dollar General cashier Lucas Holliday earned viral fame earlier this month when a video of him singing Maxwell’s “Ascension” emerged on the web. Once the R&B superstar caught wind of this, he invited Lucas to join him on stage.
On Friday (Nov. 18), Holliday took his singing inspiration up on his offer and shared the stage with him at The Palace of Auburn Hills in Detroit.
“Getting on stage is one thing,” Holliday told ABC News. “I love the stage. But being on this stage, just the magnitude of that, is kind of…It’s kind of a god send to me. I was going through a lot of stuff recently. Life was getting down on me a little bit. All of a sudden this crazy thing happened to me.”
Aside from being a singing cashier, Holliday is also a member of the funk band Tell Yo Mama. They recently earned a wedding gig due to the viral sensation. Meanwhile, Maxwell and Mary J. Blige are on “The King and Queen of Hearts World Tour,” set to run through Dec. 14 in Chicago.
