The Weeknd Scores Third No. 1 Single with ‘Starboy’

The Weeknd’s Daft Punk-assisted single “Starboy” shoots to the top of the Billboard Hot 100 this week.

The Canadian crooner lands his third No. 1 following “Can’t Feel My Face” and “The Hills.” Meanwhile, it’s Daft Punk’s first time at the top of the chart. Prior to this, the duo’s 2013 smash “Get Lucky” with Pharrell was their biggest chart climber to date.

“Starboy,” the title track off The Weeknd’s chart-topping album, spent eight non-consecutive weeks at No. 2 before reaching this high point, something Justin Bieber’s “Sorry” also did earlier this year. OutKast’s “The Way You Move” featuring Sleepy Brown had a similar run, only theirs included eight consecutive weeks at No. 2 before they reached the pinnacle position.

Abel has another song quickly rising up the chart. “I Feel It Coming,” which also features Daft Punk, is currently No. 25 on the Hot 100.

Elsewhere, Rae Sremmurd’s Gucci Mane-assisted “Black Beatles” falls to No. 2 after spending six weeks in the top spot.

Rappers are all over the Hot 100 this week with Zay Hilfigerrr & Zayion McCall’s “Juju On That Beat (TZ Anthem)” at No. 5, Ariana Grande’s Nicki Minaj-assisted “Side to Side” at No. 6, Maroon 5’s Kendrick Lamar-featured “Don’t Wanna Know” at No. 8, Machine Gun Kelly’s Camila Cabello duet “Bad Things” at No. 9, and Drake’s “Fake Love” rounding out the top 10.
