President Trump Blasts Snoop Dogg Over Controversial Parody Video

  /  03.15.2017

President Donald Trump has responded to Snoop Dogg’s “Lavender (Nightfall Remix)” video, which depicts the president as a clown.

The Jesse Wellens-directed visual features a scene in which Snoop points a novelty gun at a Trump impersonator named Ronald Klump. When he pulls the trigger, a flag reading “BANG” is released.

“Can you imagine what the outcry would be if @SnoopDogg, failing career and all, had aimed and fired the gun at President Obama?” Trump asked in a tweet. “Jail time!”

Yesterday, Florida Senator Marco Rubio warned that the video could have dangerous consequences while Trump’s lawyer, Michael Cohen, called it “disgraceful.” Apparently, the Secret Service has also taken note of the clip, though it’s unclear whether that will yield an investigation, according to TMZ.

The video is a remix to BADBADNOTGOOD and Kaytranada’s “Lavender.” Upon its release earlier this week, Snoop said he wasn’t happy with the current administration. His gripes include the president’s controversial travel ban, which resulted in nationwide protests.

“When I be putting shit out, I don’t ever expect or look for a reaction,” he explained. “I just put it out because I feel like it’s something that’s missing. Any time I drop something, I’m trying to fill in a void. I feel like it’s a lot of people making cool records, having fun, partying, but nobody’s dealing with the real issue with this fucking clown as president, and the shit that we dealing with out here, so I wanted to take time out to push pause on a party record and make one of these records for the time being.”

Snoop is currently working on his forthcoming album Never Left.
