Barbie is back in America.
Sporting a lace and leather mask, Nicki shared a photo from the set with the French DJ. Her outfit was a mix of metal and leather, giving “Xena: Warrior Princess” and Princess Leia vibes at once.
“On set w @davidguetta for the #LightMyBodyUp VIDEO SHOOT waiting on @liltunechi to get here,” she wrote. “#BarbieBackInAmerica MIAMI wuts good?!?!”
In a Twitter Q&A, Nicki said that she and Weezy decided to surprise Guetta by teaming up on the track. “I was on it then decided to ask Wayne. He said yes, did it right away. then I sent it to David as a surprise. I originally had no rap on it.”
Then, Guetta approached Minaj with the rapping idea. “His young daughter heard it & said ‘why isn’t Nicki rapping on it too?’ Lol,” she wrote. “Nicki luh da kids chile.”
In the end, Minaj seems happy with the final product. “it showcases my VERSATILITY,” she said. “[It] let’s me make another historic moment w/my boss @LilTunechi AND that DAVID is a genius for the PRODUCTION.”
