Drake's 'More Life' Tops 'Views' in Streaming

Drake’s More Life has already reached greater heights than Views.

A week after its release, the 6 God’s latest project has reportedly been streamed 300 million times worldwide — 50 million more than its predecessor did in its first week last year — on Apple Music alone, according to The Verge.

Republic Records also claims that More Life could be at around 600 million streams worldwide, counting all platforms. That’s because, unlike Views, More Life was not exclusively on Apple Music.

Still, much of the project’s Apple Music success can be attributed to Beats 1’s OVOSOUND Radio, where the effort was premiered. “What we saw on Drake’s radio show were TV numbers,” said Apple’s Jimmy Iovine.

Apple has not released specific listener numbers for Beats 1, but the company says that the figures are staggering.

“It’s the biggest radio station in the world,” added Apple Music’s head of content Larry Jackson. “There’s no way you’re going to find another station that has as many concurrent listeners and audience-wise as Beats 1, period.”

More Life is expected to top the Billboard 200 in its first week with 500-550,000 equivalent album units (200-250,000 traditional album sales). This could be the largest opening week since last year’s Views.

While Apple Music has benefitted from Drizzy’s latest, so has Spotify. More Life has shattered the record for best first-day streams for an album with 61,302,082 streams and it’s helped Drake break the best one-day streams for an artist record with 76,355,041 streams.
