Drake Breaks Record for Most Hot 100 Hits Among Solo Artists

  /  03.27.2017

More Life helps Drake break more records.

Thanks to his latest project, which debuts atop the Billboard 200 this week, Drizzy has shattered two Hot 100 records: most hits by any solo artist ever (154) and most simultaneous hits on the chart (24), according to Billboard.

The first of those records has him beating out his mentor Lil Wayne, who sits at No. 2 with 135 total Hot 100 entries. With 21 debuts, Drizzy now has 154 total entries on the chart. Both Drake and Wayne now sit behind the cast of “Glee” on the all-time list, counting non-solo artists. As reported, Nicki Minaj currently holds the crown on the female solo artist side with 76.

The second of those records is particularly stunning since Drake’s More Life only features 22 songs. Twenty-one of those made their debut this week, while “Fake Love” has been on the chart for 22 weeks. The other two songs on the chart come by way of Nicki Minaj’s Lil Wayne-assisted “No Frauds” (No. 84) and Gucci Mane’s “Both” (No. 58), which the 6 God appears on.

Drake had two top 10 debuts with “Passionfruit” (No. 8) and “Portland” (No. 9). That makes him the second artist to achieve this, following Ed Sheeran, who simultaneously charted with “Shape of You” and “Castle on the Hill” in the top 10 earlier this year.

Drizzy also has two songs in the top 20: “Fake Love” (No. 15) and “Free Smoke” (No. 18). The rest of his Hot 100 smashes fall between No. 29 (“Glychester”) and No. 84 (“No Frauds”) this week.

Aubrey Graham’s playlist also gives Drake another record: most simultaneously charted Hot 100 songs from a single project with 22. The previous record holders were The Weeknd’s Starboy (18) and Drizzy’s Views (18).

More Life arrived atop the Billboard 200 in its first week with 505,000 equivalent album units, the biggest opening for a project since last year’s Views. It also set a streaming equivalent units record with 257,000 through 384.8 million streams of individual songs from the playlist.
