New Music: WizKid feat. Drake - 'Come Closer'

  /  03.30.2017

WizKid and Drake soared to No. 1 with “One Dance.” Now, they link up again on “Come Closer,” another dutty wine-ready collaboration. After teasing the single yesterday, the Nigerian singer-songwriter unleashes the song, which was previously titled “Hush Up the Silence.”

Over Afrobeat production by Sarz (“Sweet Love”), Wiz establishes himself as an irreplaceable artist. “Came into the game, no one replace me,” he sings. “Me love my Hennessy straight with no chaser / All of my guys know me all about me paper / Me got me girls all around me, me no chase her / Starboy, call me number one / When me tune drop, the girls, they bounce along.”

Meanwhile, Drake tries to use the beat for relaxation, rapping about all of the stressors in his life. “Too mix up in drama to go outside,” he sings. “Too mix up in drama to free my mind / Jealous people around me, I need to change my life / I just turn colder every time I try.”

Fans will recall that “Hush Up the Silence” initially leaked in January. “Come Closer” is the final version of the track and serves as the first single off WizKid’s forthcoming RCA Records debut Sounds From the Other Side.

“Come Closer” marks WizKid’s third collaboration with Drake, who he previously worked with on the remix to “Ojuelegba” and “One Dance.” A video for “Come Closer,” directed by Daps (Migos), has been shot and will be released soon.
