Joey Bada$$ Performs 'Land of the Free' on 'Late Show'
Joey Bada$$ gets political on late night. The Pro Era rapper performed his socially-conscious All-Amerikkkan Bada$$ single “Land of the Free” on “The Late Show with Stephen Colbert” on Monday (April 3).
Draped in a paisley-print American flag, which also appears on the cover art, Joey opened up the performance on one knee. “Sometimes, I don’t think they truly understand me,” he said, while standing up. “Because they don’t.”
Backed by a band and sporting a white hoodie underneath his American flag, the New York rhymer launched into his own version of the State of the Union, attacking President Trump’s qualifications.
“Obama just wasn’t enough,” he rapped. “I need some more closure / And Donald Trump is not equipped to take this country over / Let’s face facts.”
Featuring J. Cole (“Legendary”) and ScHoolboy Q (“Rockabye Baby”), All-Amerikkkan Bada$$ is due Friday (April 7).
