Machine Gun Kelly Raps About Eminem Ban on 'Free Smoke' Freestyle

  /  05.17.2017

MGK gives out “Free Smoke.”

Hot off the release of his third album bloom, Machine Gun Kelly unleashes a fiery new freestyle over Drizzy’s More Life opener.

During his visit to Power 106’s “L.A. Leakers,” Kellz rhymed with confidence about his place in the game. “You wanna know who’s in my top 10?” he asks. “Me, me, me, and me again / Run and tell them that it ain’t pretend / No fake news, CNN.”

But then, the freestyle finds him reigniting his long-held theory about Eminem. “I’m my favorite rapper alive,” he raps. “Since my favorite rapper banned me from Shade 45.”

Back in 2012, when he was 22 years old, Machine Gun Kelly tweeted about Eminem’s daughter Hailie Mathers, who was 16 at the time. “ok so i just saw a picture of Eminem’s daughter…and i have to say, she is hot as fuck, in the most respectful way possible cuz Em is king,” he wrote.

By 2015, MGK said he had been blackballed by various outlets and radio stations for that tweet. “Pictures of [Hailie] had came out, and I’m like, what, 20 years old, 21 at the time?” he told Hot 97. “I said, ‘She’s beautiful, but all respect due, Eminem is king.’ What’s wrong with that? Is there a 15-year age gap where I’m a creep for that? I was 21, dawg.”

The backlash was felt from various angles, according to MGK. “Certain people won’t even listen or review [my album],” he said. “Certain places, you won’t even hear Machine Gun Kelly on. Certain things won’t even happen.”

Before the alleged ban, Kelly praised Em as one of his bucket-list collaborations. “That would be a fan favorite if an MGK-Eminem song ever went down,” he told Rap-Up in August of 2012, when he called Slim Shady the best rapper alive.

MGK’s bloom is out now, while Eminem is reportedly working on the follow-up to 2013’s The Marshall Mathers LP 2.
