Chance the Rapper to Receive Humanitarian Award at BET Awards

  /  06.06.2017

Chance the Rapper’s good deeds will be celebrated this year, as the BET Awards honor the Chicago rapper-turned-philanthropist with the Humanitarian Award.

Taking to Twitter, the Grammy-winning MC acknowledged the recognition with gratitude. “It’s an immense honor & I’m inspired to do so much more after receiving this,” he tweeted. “Thank you @IamDebraLee I won’t let you down.”

This year, the Coloring Book rapper made headlines when he donated more than $1 million to Chicago Public Schools. Just today, Chance also announced that his Social Works organization will partner with LANDR to offer audio mastering classes to 75 students this summer.

In the past, Chance has also worked with The Empowerment Plan to give coats that turn into sleeping bags to the homeless in Chicago.

Additionally, BET will honor New Edition with the Lifetime Achievement Award. This follows the success of the group’s mini-series, which was a big hit for the network.

Featuring performances by Future, Bruno Mars, Trey Songz, and Migos, among others, the BET Awards will air live from the Microsoft Theater in Los Angeles on June 25 at 8 p.m. ET.
