Video: Jhené Aiko - 'While We're Young'

  /  06.09.2017

Just hours after dropping “While We’re Young,” Jhené Aiko releases the romantic single’s heartwarming video.

Directed by Jay Ahn, the clip takes cues from Adam Sandler’s 50 First Dates, with Aiko playing the role of a beautiful woman with short-term memory loss.

Her suitor is not deterred by warnings to stay away from her. After meeting Jhené one morning, he’s hooked, and even though she can’t remember him the next day, he remains in love.

With the help of a handheld camcorder, Aiko’s leading man shows her what they’ve been up to for months, explaining how he makes her fall for him every day. When she asks him if he loves her, he adds: “Love? Love is a heavy word. I get up every morning, go to this restaurant, and you’re there. Yeah, I love you.”

Based on Aiko’s lyrics, she agrees. “It’s been another perfect day witcha,” she sings. “Wanna lay witcha / Spend the night witcha / Then spend my life witcha / Alright? You heard me right.”

“While We’re Young” is Jhené’s first single as a solo artist since November’s “Maniac.” In February, the soulful songstress said her years-in-the-making LP is “like an art project” that she “can’t wait to share.”

Up next, the Teva spokeswoman is working on a second TWENTY88 joint project with Big Sean and she is scheduled to perform as part of the BET Experience (June 22-25), where she will be joined by Snoop Dogg, Wiz Khalifa, Kid Cudi, Bryson Tiller, and many more.
