Joey Bada$$ Drops 3 New Tracks
In preparation for the third annual STEEZ Day, Joey Bada$$ unleashes three brand new tracks produced by his frequent collaborator, Statik Selektah.
The first of those songs is the boastful “500 Benz,” which is about fast cars, but also about his way with women. In particular, he references an unnamed R&B star.
“I ain’t playing no games,” rhymes Joey. “Lil R&B chick and I ain’t sayin’ no names / Let her rock the mic and give a ni**a soul brain / By the time this shit drops, she’ll probably be my old thang.”
From there, Badmon keeps the boasts rolling with “Too Lit,” on which he rhymes about his abilities on the mic over a soothing sample.
“I’m Mr. Fantastic,” he raps. “Everything I drop, another classic / They only mad ’cause I got it mastered / Anything that I imagined, I made it happen / Turned the pen into a wand, I made magic / I’m good with the words but I’m better with the actions / Putting in the work, I’m never relaxing.”
Finally, Joey gets a little more romantic on “Love Is Only a Feeling,” which features a sample of a Homeshake song of the same name. “I love her curves,” he raps. “But what’s more preferred is the way that she articulates words.”
The third annual STEEZ Day is set to take place Friday (July 7) at PlayStation Theater in New York. The event is meant to honor the late Capital STEEZ and will include performances by Pro Era (Joey Bada$$, Kirk Knight, Nyck Caution, CJ Fly), A$AP Mob, XXXTENTACION, Ab-Soul, The Underachievers, Saba, Jay IDK, Jazz Cartier, and J.I.D.
This month, Bada$$ is also set to embark on “Everybody’s Tour” with Logic, starting July 8 in Las Vegas.
