Nas honors Prodigy.

Less than two weeks after the Mobb Deep rapper passed away at 42, Esco paid tribute to his frequent collaborator at the 2017 Woo Hah! Festival in the Netherlands on Saturday (July 1).

During his set, the Illmatic spitter performed a portion of M-O-B-B’s classic “Shook Ones, Pt. II.” Leading a chant, Nas asked fans to yell, “R.I.P. Prodigy!” while waving their hands in the air. When the track ended, Esco put one hand to the sky and added: “We love you, Prodigy.”

Nas and P went through their fair share of ups and downs, sparking a feud and reconciling their differences too. They collaborated on a slew of tracks, including “Self Conscience,” “Queens Day,” “Eye for a Eye (Your Beef Is Mines),” “It’s Mine,” “Da Bridge 2001,” “Give It Up Fast,” and “Family.”

Prodigy died on June 20 after years of battling sickle cell anemia. His Mobb Deep partner Havoc mourned his death two days later, noting, “I still can’t believe it.” On June 29, rappers like LL Cool J, Remy Ma, Ice-T, Fat Joe, and 50 Cent paid their respects at a New York funeral.

Nas has also commented on Prodigy’s passing. In fact, he was one of the first to publicly mourn P’s death. “QB RIP King P,” he wrote. “Prodigy 4 Ever.”
