New Music: Statik Selektah feat. 2 Chainz & Wiz Khalifa - 'Man of the Hour'
Statik Selektah is the “Man of the Hour,” but he isn’t alone. The DJ-producer teams up with 2 Chainz and Wiz Khalifa for the latest release off his upcoming album 8.
Over lush production that features a saxophone, piano keys, and scratches, Tity Boi kicks things off. “I welcome yours with open arms,” he raps. “I give your lady a throat massage / I put your house in my fourth garage / Perpendicular, ignorant crossed with articulate / Southside, using Ben Franklin for benefits.”
Following a hook from 2 Chainz, Wiz Khalifa emerges with some bars about his favorite pastime. “High as fuck off the joint that I just rolled,” he raps. “Riding ’round in a cloud of that kush smoke / Put my generation on the good dope / Now we all getting high as D’Angelo notes.”
“Man of the Hour” follows the 2 Chainz-assisted “Smoke Break,” which may or may not appear on 8. The album is also set to feature Joey Bada$$, Action Bronson, Run the Jewels, G-Eazy, Royce Da 5’9″, and more.
“I’m really excited about it,” Selektah told Billboard. “I’ve been really stepping up my game musically. You know, you can expect that Statik sound, but it’s just a lot bigger.”
