J. Cole Kicks Off '4 Your Eyez Only' Arena Tour

  /  07.08.2017

J. Cole’s “4 Your Eyez Only Tour” kicked off its arena run with a bang on Thursday (July 6).

Launching the highly-anticipated trek at Talking Stick Resort Arena in Phoenix, Ariz., the Dreamville boss emerged on stage in dramatic fashion, wearing an orange prison jumpsuit. With a sign that read “Property of…” on his back, Jermaine Cole made his way to the front while being escorted by cops. When he arrived, he was surrounded by surveillance cameras, street lights, and barbed wire under jumbotron screens.

As the tour title suggests, 4 Your Eyez Only was the foundation of his performance, starting with its first four songs. However, the set also featured fan favorite tracks like “Lights Please,” “Nobody’s Perfect,” “Power Trip,” and “No Role Modelz.”

Cole’s prison theme and his wardrobe added to the tracks he performed, like “Neighbors,” which is about a SWAT raid that took place at his studio. Other 4 Your Eyez Only tracks got their shine too, leading up to the finale, the eight-and-a-half-minute title track.

“If you don’t want to hear somebody running through some real shit for eight minutes and really give you a story,” he told the crowd, “this is your time to beat the traffic.”

The first leg of the “4 Your Eyez Only Tour” started June 1 in Columbia and ended June 18 in Greensboro. The arena run, featuring Anderson .Paak (on select dates), Bas, J.I.D., and Ari Lennox, is set to continue through Aug. 20, when it comes to an end in Dallas.

Tickets are available now.
