New Music: Anderson .Paak feat. Ta-ku - 'Automatic'

Anderson .Paak is back.

In the middle of the “4 Your Eyez Only Tour” with J. Cole, the Aftermath signee delivers “Automatic,” a soulful track that features its producer, Ta-ku.

Over the laid-back instrumental, .Paak sings about a poisonous relationship. “Why can’t we let the past be the past, love?” he asks. “For some odd reason, I can’t get passed that / My soul’s exposed for you to glance at.”

The song, which premiered on Beats 1, is perhaps a glimpse of things to come from Dr. Dre’s protégé. He is currently working on his Aftermath debut, the follow-up to last year’s critically-lauded Malibu.

Anderson is on select dates of J. Cole’s “4 Your Eyez Only Tour,” which stops in Washington, D.C. this evening. The trek is set to continue through Aug. 20 in Dallas.
