The Weeknd Bails on VMA Performance Due to Fatigue

  /  08.28.2017

The Weeknd was one of the most anticipated performers at the MTV Video Music Awards on Sunday (Aug. 27), but the Starboy ended up pulling a no-show due to fatigue.

TMZ reports that Abel “just didn’t feel like” performing at the event, because of said “concert fatigue” after a lengthy run on “The Starboy: Legend of the Fall Tour.” So, he decided not to attend or perform at the annual event, where he was nominated for five Moon Persons, including Artist of the Year and Video of the Year (“Reminder”).

Just two days before the MTV VMAs were scheduled to take place, The Weeknd was also slated to perform at a Grey Goose function in downtown Los Angeles. However, it was canceled due to “production issues,” according to a separate report from TMZ.

Next week, the XO leader is set to hit the road on “The Starboy: Legend of the Fall Tour: Phase II,” starting Sept. 6 in University Park, PA. Joined by Nav and special guests Gucci Mane and French Montana on select dates, the trek is slated to continue across the world through Dec. 14 in Perth, Australia.
