Nicki Minaj, Travis Scott, Diddy, & DJ Khaled Join 'Hand in Hand' Telethon

  /  09.12.2017

The “Hand in Hand” telethon for hurricane relief has just added a slew of stars to its roster. In addition to Beyoncé and Drake, the star-studded benefit will also feature Nicki Minaj, Travis Scott, Diddy, T.I., and DJ Khaled.

Taking place tonight (Sept. 12) at 8 p.m., the one-hour special will air live from Los Angeles, New York, and Nashville across a variety of networks, including ABC, BET, Bravo, CBS, CMT, E!, FOX, HBO, MTV, NBC, and many more. It will also air online via Apple Music, Beats 1, Facebook, AOL, HuffPost, Twitter, Facebook, and YouTube.

Proceeds from the Bun B and Scooter Braun-organized event are set to benefit the Rebuild Texas Fund, Habitat for Humanity, Direct Relief, Save the Children, United Way, and more.

The new names are being added to the list of participants, which already includes Beyoncé, Drake, Justin Bieber, The Black Eyed Peas, Justin Timberlake, Jamie Foxx, Selena Gomez, Timbaland, Will Smith, Questlove, Oprah Winfrey, and Vic Mensa, among many others.

Originally, the telethon was meant to help those affected by Hurricane Harvey, but the plans changed when Hurricane Irma began to make headlines. “Bun B told me that the first person to come help him get into Port Arthur and help his community was his friend, who drove all the way from Miami to help,” Braun told Billboard. “So the moment we found out Irma was coming and heading for Florida and the islands, we immediately changed our paperwork to be hurricane relief, so we could support them as well. Because Bun B said to me, ‘Who would I be to not return the favor?’

“I think the whole point of what we’re trying to say with this telethon is that the devastation of the hurricane means we need to help each other — but it doesn’t stop or end there,” he added. “It’s an opportunity for all of us to come together and remember a year of where there’s been so much talk of hatred and division, that push comes to shove, we as a people come together. And we have to get back to that idea.”
