  /  09.15.2017

Wyclef Jean is back. For the third time in 30 years — with each volume arriving at the decade mark — the Fugees frontman has released another edition of his Carnival series.

With the third installment, Carnival III: The Fall and Rise of a Refugee, ‘Clef unleashes a 12-track effort featuring appearances by a slew of artists, including Jazzy Amra, H1DaHook, Marx Solvila (“Slums”), Tbaby (“Warrior”), and Stix (“Shotta Boys”).

Elsewhere, LunchMoney Lewis and The Knocks team up on “What Happened to Love,” Emeli Sandé shows up for “Carry On,” and Riley is featured on “Trapicabana.” Actor D.L. Hughley also makes an appearance alongside Eric Nimmer on “Double Dutch.”

Carnival III follows the 1997 original and its 2007 sequel. During an interview with The Guardian, Wyclef said that his next edition of Carnival, tentatively titled The Return of the Perfect Gentleman, will arrive in 2027, to continue the trend that he’s had with the series. “Yeah, you already know it,” he said. “Every 10, you get a Carnival!”

As for when another Fugees album will arrive, ‘Clef said he is ready whenever Pras and Lauryn Hill are. “When the Fugees are ready,” he said, “I’ll always be ready.”
