Fresh off making Billboard history, Cardi B helped G-Eazy turn “The Tonight Show” into a nightclub for their performance of “No Limit.”
Young Gerald kicked off the late-night set with a team of background dancers. Behind a vintage, VHS-inspired filter, the Bay Area spitter rocked a coat and skinny pants, while performing A$AP Rocky’s hook and his own first verse.
Wearing an Alexander McQueen shearling coat and thigh-high black boots, the “Bodak Yellow” rapper emerged for her verse with a confident strut. She even changed the song’s lyrics to reflect her recent chart-topping achievement. “You know me, Cardi B, No. 1 on the charts,” she rapped, with G-Eazy backing her up.
Gerald recently spoke with Uproxx about how the collaboration came together. “I’m a super fan of [Cardi B] and everything she’s doing right now is incredible,” he said. “I think she represents where music is today. It’s real, it’s raw, it’s honest, it’s pure. It’s not contrived, it’s not overly thought out or put together. It’s just what the youth is reacting to, what the culture is reacting to, what sounds and feels good. You know? What sounds and feels good is what’s working. Her music’s incredible. Her whole personality, her energy, everything.”
“No Limit” is a single off G-Eazy’s forthcoming double album, The Beautiful & Damned, which is expected arrive at some point this year.
Backstage at “Fallon,” Cardi B received flowers from Taylor Swift, whose single “Look What You Made Me Do” she dethroned from the No. 1 spot on the Billboard Hot 100. “Thank you @taylorswift for the flowers,” she wrote, “and I freaking love your music.”
