Video: Maroon 5 feat. SZA - 'What Lovers Do'
Maroon 5 and SZA go on a magical adventure in their fantasy-filled video for “What Lovers Do.”
Directed by Joseph Kahn, the cinematic clip finds Adam Levine and SZA running through a field, where sunflowers sing, sparkly butterflies float around, dinosaurs roam, and gravity is not an obstacle.
As the visual progresses, SZA and Adam continue their journey, first running through snowy landscapes, then a race track, before speeding through the ocean with dolphins. Later, Solana plays the role of a mermaid, while Levine transforms into Godzilla in a whirlwind of vignettes.
After the Adamzilla gets shot down, he wakes up in a hospital, where the TDE songstress plays his nurse. It’s a scene that was previewed by Levine last month and it also works as the video’s finale.
Currently, “What Lovers Do” is sitting at No. 23 on the Hot 100, where SZA also has three other placements, thanks to “The Weekend” (No. 52), Lorde’s “Homemade Dynamite (Remix)” (No. 92), and “Love Galore” (No. 33), which recently earned SZA her first platinum plaque.
