JAY-Z and Ryan Gosling Star in 'SNL' Promos

JAY-Z and Ryan Gosling might seem like an odd pairing, but the duo is joining forces in a couple of promos ahead of this weekend’s “Saturday Night Live” premiere.

In the first clip, musical guest Hov and host Gosling stand by side, while Ryan tries to be as cool and straight-faced as Jigga. “How excited are you gonna be, just so I know how excited I should be?” asks Gosling. When Young H.O. replies without emotion, Ryan responds: “Got it!”

The second of these two ads finds Gosling celebrating a reunion, of sorts. “Together again at last,” he says. “I saw you at Coachella.” When Jigga acknowledges that he remembers, a surprised Ryan responds, “You do?” Making them both crack up.

This pairing is particularly interesting given Jay’s “Moonlight” song, on which he references La La Land, the film that Gosling starred in last year. La La Land was mistakenly announced as the Best Picture winner at this year’s Oscars, overshadowing the real winner, Moonlight. “We stuck in La La Land,” Jigga raps on the song. “Even when we win, we gon’ lose.”

JAY-Z is returning to “SNL” for the fourth time as its lead musical guest. He also appeared on the show as a featured act, alongside Beyoncé and frequent collaborator Justin Timberlake.

“Saturday Night Live” returns with Jigga and Gosling tomorrow (Sept. 30).
