The Weeknd Teases Marvel Collaboration at Comic-Con

  /  10.01.2017

The Weeknd is up to something.

After posting a series of red squares on Instagram, Abel Tesfaye shared a comic book illustration of his eyes, teasing an apparent collaboration with Marvel for Comic-Con.

“Comic-Con New York October 7th @marvel,” is all that his caption revealed. Marvel posted the same photo with its own cryptic caption, which only revealed the date.

At press time, it’s unclear what the photo is meant to tease. However, The Weeknd has talked about a possible Starboy comic in the past. In November, he told Beats 1 about those plans.

“Starboy is the next chapter in this chronicle, this saga,” he explained (via Complex). “I guess this is the fourth chapter. He’s a character that we created. It’s so funny, we want to create a comic out of him as well.”

During the interview, Abel revealed some of the characteristics that make up the Starboy. “He’s a cool, dope character that makes appearances a lot on the album,” he added. “He’s definitely made his appearance in different records in the past as well. He’s a more braggadocios character that we all have inside of us.”

On top of the comic book illustration, Abel has also recently been teasing a Marvel collaboration through social media, including posting the Marvel intro and wearing a Marvel hat.

Back in July, he also tweeted: “might go to comic-con.”
