Desiigner is going global. The “Panda” hitmaker and Steve Aoki are teaming up with K-pop sensation BTS on the upcoming remix to “MIC Drop,” which is set to drop next week.
BTS’ label, BigHit Entertainment, called this a gift to the group’s supporters: “The remix’s surprise release is to repay fans worldwide for their meaningful success and for showing BTS so much love during their most recent comeback for the album LOVE YOURSELF: Her.”
“MIC Drop” was originally released on LOVE YOURSELF: Her, which dropped in September and was reportedly the best-selling “K-pop album ever in pre-orders.”
Two days after releasing “MIC Drop (Remix)” with Desiigner and Aoki, BTS will be hitting the stage at the 2017 American Music Awards for a special performance of their hit single, “DNA.” “It is such an honor for BTS and BigHit Entertainment to be invited to the American Music Awards as one of the performers,” said a label rep. “Our partners in the U.S. have helped us pave the way in every way possible, and together we are making history. We are also excited to show our fans, ARMY, the first-ever U.S. live TV performance of ‘DNA.'”
The Desiigner and Aoki-assisted version of “MIC Drop” is due Nov. 17. Listen to the original cut, which blends trap, electronica, and pop below.
