Maino Remixes SZA's 'The Weekend'
Following Miguel, Khalid, and K Camp, Maino is the latest artist to be inspired by SZA’s “The Weekend.”
Over the Ctrl standout, the New York rapper takes on the role of an unfaithful man with a side chick. “Play your position,” he commands. “You know my position / You know about my situation / I know you impatient / Just wait ’till the weekend, I’ll fuck you like we on vacation.”
The raunchy song was inspired by SZA’s own details about a love triangle on the original and her vocals remain on the remix. The Ctrl song has become a fan favorite, going platinum, and inspiring other artists.
This year, the cut was remixed by K Camp and covered by Miguel. 21 Savage was seen singing it on Snapchat. Then, Khalid incorporated it into a medley with “Love Galore.” Solange is also set to direct the upcoming video.
