Meek Mill 'Motivated' by Philadelphia Eagles' Super Bowl Run

  /  01.25.2018

Meek Mill speaks from behind bars. While his hometown’s Philadelphia Eagles used his “Dreams and Nightmares (Intro)” as their soundtrack to the Super Bowl, the incarcerated Dreamchasers boss looked on with pride.

The MMG rhymer shared this joy in a statement to Bleacher Report. “It really lifted my spirit to hear the team rally around my songs because that’s why I make music, to inspire others and bring people together,” he said. “The Eagles have also motivated me with the way they’ve overcome tough situations and injuries to succeed this year.”

Despite the love that the Eagles have shown him during their impressive Super Bowl journey, Meek won’t be allowed to attend the big game, since he’s currently in nearby Chester State Correctional Institution, serving a 2-4 year sentence for probation violations.

His case continues to be contentious. His lawyers are still looking to receive bail, have Judge Genece Brinkley removed from the case, and have his sentence overturned. “We shouldn’t be flooding jails because of probation technicalities,” said Meek’s lawyer, Joe Tacopina. “In Philadelphia, people don’t even get two to four years for robbery, and he’s in there for a non-crime. It’s just ridiculous.”

Mill, who’s been on probation since a 2009 drug and gun case, began his prison sentence in November, after Judge Brinkley ruled that he violated the terms of his probation by getting arrested for fighting at a St. Louis airport and for reckless driving in New York City, despite the fact that those charges were dropped. Since then, his bail has been denied and his legal team has accused Judge Brinkley of improper requests.

Meek may or may not be able to view the game in jail, but he remains sure that his hometown squad will win the Vince Lombardi trophy. “I’m so proud of my Eagles for making the Super Bowl and representing the city of Philadelphia,” he added. “I’m confident my guys are going to beat the Patriots and bring the Super Bowl trophy to Philly.”
