New Music: Chromeo feat. The-Dream - 'Bedroom Calling'

  /  01.29.2018

Chromeo calls on Radio Killa.

The Montreal duo of David “Dave 1” Macklovitch and Patrick “P-Thugg” Gemayel links up with The-Dream for a funky new collaboration, “Bedroom Calling.”

Blending both worlds into a bouncy banger with pop sensibilities, “Bedroom Calling” is an ode to lovers. “You know that I want you, girl,” sings King Dream. “You know that I need you / You know that I care / I could be anywhere, but I wanna be here with you / My mind’s here and there, but I wanna be with you.”

Dave 1 revealed that the song is also a tribute to a favorite from Terius Nash’s discography. “We’ve been obsessed with The-Dream since ‘Fast Car’ from his first album,” he said. “To us, he’s a modern day funk auteur, like Prince or El DeBarge. This song pays homage to our favorite work of his.”

Following “Juice,” “Bedroom Calling” is a single off Chromeo’s forthcoming album Head Over Heels, the follow-up to 2014’s White Women. Described as their “most polished, ambitious, and collaborative work to date,” the album is slated to feature contributions from DRAM, The-Dream, Pino Palladino (D’Angelo, The Who), and Jesse Johnson (Prince, The Time, D’Angelo).

Up next, Chromeo is slated to embark on a spring and summer tour, which is set to run from April 3 in Vancouver through July 3 in Toronto. Tickets for the “Head Over Heels World Tour – Phase 1” go on sale Friday (Feb. 2) at 10 a.m. local time.

Meanwhile, The-Dream is launching “The Young Legend of Love Tour” to celebrate the 10-year anniversary of Lovehate. He is also prepping Sextape Vol. 1 and his long-awaited album Love Affair.
