Toni Braxton Denies Birdman Marriage Rumors

Toni Braxton clears the air. Following speculation about her alleged marriage to Birdman, the “Un-Break My Heart” songstress opens up about their relationship during an in-depth interview with Power 105’s Angie Martinez.

Wearing a huge diamond on her ring finger, Toni denied the rumors about her alleged marriage to Baby. “Tamar told the world we’re married and we eloped,” she said. “We are not married. I promise you. Maybe I wouldn’t be so explosive about it but I wouldn’t deny it. I wouldn’t say ‘I’m not married,’ if someone asked me. I’m not married.”

Later in the interview, she called Tamar’s perceived confirmation of their marriage “alternative facts” and insisted that her diamond ring was simply a birthday gift.

Braxton said her relationship with Birdman goes way back, to a time when they were just friends. “Me and him have been friends for 16 years,” she explained. “We’ve been besties for a long time. This is real. No crossing the line. He would keep in touch. He would come see me when I had my plays. When I had my baby shower, he would come. We were really friends.”

Their budding relationship, which includes the recently-leaked collaboration “Heart Away,” may have caught some by surprise, but Toni said it makes sense to them. “I get why they think it’s weird, but they don’t know him like I know him,” she said. “He’s very traditional…He’s very traditional about family and values. He has two kids by his high school sweetheart. Same baby mama. He had his kids when he was in his late 20s. He’s always a gentleman to me, around me.”

In 2016, Baby gushed about Braxton while being coy about their relationship. “Toni cool as fuck, man,” he said. “Super cool. That’s the homegirl. I’ve been knowing her for a long time. We went to the BET Awards. What’s the big deal? We did music together. We got one coming out together.”
