Diplo and DRAM won’t “Look Back.”
Over a soulful instrumental, DRAM delivers evocative lyrics about moving forward without hesitation. “I haven’t looked back since I made up my mind to never look behind,” he sings. “I haven’t looked back for a very long time.”
Speaking with Beats 1, Big Baby DRAM revealed that the song started as a jam session at Post Malone’s studio. “Post went in and did some harmonizing, playing around with it, or whatever, for like 5-10 minutes. Dip was like, ‘Could you go in there? What would you do?’ I went in for like 10 minutes on that riff, just going crazy.”
The result ended up evolving with a little help from Tinashe. “They fucked with it so much, Dip had me come to Malibu to finish it up with him,” he said. “Tinashe was there and she did the female background vocals.”
Up next, DRAM is working on his sophomore album with some assistance from Rick Rubin. Big Baby is optimistic that it will be done before the summer. On top of that, the Virginia crooner is also working on a joint project with Erykah Badu.
