Sade, DJ Khaled, & Kehlani Join 'A Wrinkle in Time' Soundtrack

  /  02.20.2018

Sade is joining a star-studded roster of artists, set to contribute original music for A Wrinkle in Time, Disney’s upcoming Ava DuVernay-directed film that stars Oprah Winfrey, Reese Witherspoon, Mindy Kaling, and Storm Reid.

DJ Khaled, Kehlani, Sia, Demi Lovato, and Chloe x Halle are also set to contribute new material for the anxiously-awaited soundtrack, which will include a No I.D. remix to the Sade single, “Flower of the Universe.”

“I never thought [Sade would] say yes, but asked anyway,” tweeted DuVernay. “She was kind + giving. A goddess. We began a journey together that I’ll never forget…It’s a dream come true.”

DuVernay also celebrated Lovato’s Khaled collaboration, “I Believe.” “My hope was to gather dynamic women artists to craft a majestic soundtrack for Meg’s journey,” she wrote. “Demi, thank you for ‘I BELIEVE.’ With our brother, @djkhaled, you made magic.”

Kehlani’s “Let Me Live” has already appeared in previews for the film. “I am in love with the music of a young woman hailing from Oakland,” said DuVernay. “Her vibe. Her voice. Her vision for herself. It’s all beautiful.”

Other tracks on the soundtrack include the Sia-penned “Magic” and Chloe x Halle’s “Warrior,” which also appears in a teaser. “The new song ‘Warrior’ by the phenoms @chloexhalle often makes me cry – with joy for the future,” Ava added. “They are wonderful young women who help me hope.”

The film and its soundtrack will also benefit from “Game of Thrones” composer Ramin Djawadi, who crafted the score. Plus, Entertainment Weekly reports that soundtrack will also feature Freestyle Fellowship’s “Park Bench People” from 1993’s Innercity Griots. The group’s members also appeared in DuVernay’s 2008 hip-hop documentary, This Is the Life.

A Wrinkle in Time and its soundtrack arrive March 9.
