Tory Lanez Talks 50 Cent Short Film, Says People Are Biting His Ideas
Hot off Memories Don’t Die, Tory Lanez is teaming up with 50 Cent for a short film about his first two albums titled I Told You Memories Don’t Die.
Speaking with Beats 1, the Toronto-based rapper-singer revealed that the movie is due to arrive in the spring or summer, and that it won’t be in the form of a music video.
“Everyone’s doing these random short films for their albums all of a sudden, which I kinda feel a lot of people are biting from me,” he said. “Everyone’s doing it, but they’re making these videos. They start really sick, but then they end up being these rap videos. I’m not doing that. This is a 45 to 50-minute short film…I’m doing a real feature film.”
The movie will be inspired by his debut album I Told You and its follow-up Memories Don’t Die. “It’s not even really based on the music of the album,” he added. “It’s based on story of the first album and some of the stories that I’m talking about in the music of this album.”
In addition to helping with the film, 50 Cent also appears on “Pieces” off Memories Don’t Die. It is unclear what his on-screen or behind-the-scenes role will be in the movie.
Dropping a new film is just part of the plan. Swavey says he is also plotting a Spanish album featuring Farruko, Arcángel, Ozuna, Prince Royce, and Nicky Jam. “I’m gonna make an album that’s all Spanish,” he added. “All Latin. Latin features. I’m gonna tap into that whole other world.”
