Report: Logic’s Def Jam Deal Not Worth $30 Million

Logic recently announced a $30 million deal with Def Jam Recordings, but it seems that the Maryland rapper was overstating the figure, according to TMZ.

Sources say that Bobby Tarantino did, in fact, ink a new deal with his longtime label, but that it was not for the previously reported figure. It’s unclear what the final number was, but the report indicates it could have been “in the tens of millions.”

It’s hard to know for sure because Def Jam hasn’t officially addressed the issue. According to the story, insiders say that the $30 million sum just does not add up and that Logic could be “trolling” people.

If that’s true, it’s quite an elaborate troll. First, he rapped about signing a new deal with Def Jam for “no less than 20 mill” on Boby Tarantino II’s “Wassup.” Then, he addressed the lyric during an interview with Beats 1.

“When I first signed my deal, the advance was like 200 grand,” he said. “So going from Section 8 and food stamps and welfare to 200 grand was life-changing, but the life change I’m talking about is the $30 million-dollar deal I just signed. That shit freaked me out. I felt like a target.”

Shortly after BTII’s release, Logic announced “The Bobby Tarantino Vs. Everybody Tour,” an arena and amphitheater trek, which is slated to run from June 8 through Aug. 3.
