Halsey gets super symbolic in the neon-covered video for “Alone” featuring Big Sean and Stefflon Don.
The new visual finds Halsey throwing away an outfit that she previously wore in “Bad at Love.” Embodying the role of Luna Aureum, she comes across Solis Angelus, who was introduced in previous videos.
Big Sean and Stefflon Don play the role of friends at the masquerade ball. As Luna, Halsey struts around the bash with a seductive glare. By the end of the mysterious clip, she smiles triumphantly as confetti fills the air.
Halsey took to Twitter to explain some of the symbolic elements of the visual, which she co-directed with Hannah Lux Davis. The pop star revealed that the clip represents Luna’s purging of Solis, and opens a new chapter in her saga.
“She’s like fuck that shit,” Halsey explained. “I’m not aureum anymore, I’m not the old me anymore, fuck my old loyalties. I’m living for me. Covered in diamonds.”
Sean and Stefflon were also part of the story. “Sean my guardian angel,” she explained. “And Stef my friend like ‘bitch ain’t trippin off a fling.”
Later this month, Halsey will continue her “Hopeless Fountain Kingdom Tour” through Australia and New Zealand, Latina America, North America, Asia, and the United Kingdom. Kehlani, Lauren Jauregui, and Jessie Reyez will also appear in different markets.
